WEEK 39 "Not Today Satan!"

Hello hello beautiful people! What a crazy good week! Like I said crazy but FULL of miracles!

Our mission president has put a huge emphasis on using different ways to find. He has given us 13 different finding lines and has challenged a few different companionships in leadership to get all 13 in for 13 days! With social media, filming and a crazy busy area, sister Higgins and I were overwhelmed! The stress kept piling up with different tasks being thrown our way.

One day the stress hit us hard. While planning out the rest of the week and our travel trip to Corvallis nothing was lining up. We were honestly a bit frustrated and confused. Later that night we had a lesson with our friend Amy. Teaching is one of my favorite things to do! Usually I feel prepared and excited. That day we both felt like we weren't going to be able to teach Amy as well as we should. Her son deals with behavioral issues and the lessons usually are crazy so we knew that wasn't going to help. I hate to say it but we weren't being very optimistic and we definitely were lacking faith.

Just before leaving the house we prayed for extra strength and guidance. We ended up teaching Amy the plan of salvation and her son stayed in his room the entire time! The spirit was strong, Amy was engaged, and asking SO many questions. The neighbor kids knocked on the door. Mine and sister Higgins hearts were both beating fast. We knew we needed to talk about baptism. Her going to answer the door allowed for us to have a little pow wow! We ended up extending the invitation of baptism to her! We knew that Satan was trying to distract us, make us stressed and overwhelmed in hopes that we wouldn't be at our best to teach Amy! Thankfully the spirit was there and we were able to witness a miracle!

The next day, we were supposed to be traveling to Corvallis to film. Much of the stress from the day before came from planning this trip. We ended up just canceling our overnight trip. Joy, our friend from Nigeria who referred herself, asked to meet with us! We were in shock and so happy! Joy was so interested but stopped meeting with us because her family found out we were the "Mormons". They are out of town and she wanted to learn more! We were able to teach her to Restoration and she LOVES the Book of Mormon and all that it teaches! We wouldn't have been able to meet with her if our travel plans had gone through! The Lord had a bigger and better plan for us and for Joy.

Saturday we finally made it up to Corvallis, not as we planned and filmed some sweet families and even got to go to a church owned girls camp! Man I miss girls camp! Anyways we had to stop at a gas station. We drove by 2 7/11's and ended up at a sketchy Shell. The convenient store was gutted out. We ended up meeting a guy named J, in his early 20's! He literally told us he was searching for God! We were able to refer him to the YSA elders!

So many miracles! It all started with stress and worry about our plans but little did we know the Lord had a much greater plan for Amy, Joy, and J.

Yes, the mission is hard and yes, some days stretch you beyond what you think you're capable of but I can truly say I have never been so happy in my life! Sometimes sister Higgins and I will just start smiling and laughing at each other because we are SO HAPPY!

I love the Lord, I love His work! I know that His plan for each of us is perfect, more perfect than we could begin to imagine. I know that Jesus Christ loves you! I miss yall and hope everything is going well! With all my love and prayers,

-Sweet Vickie! She has been messaging me on Facebook! She has been asking for us to come pray with her mom, who is sick. We found out Vickie is deaf! She taught me the ABC's in sign language and we used a pen and paper to communicate about God. This tender moment will always be one that I remember.
