Week 37&38 HALF WAY?! & JEFF'S BAPTISM
9 months!!? Can you believe it? I honestly can't! It feels like just a couple weeks ago I just gotten settled into Coos Bay! I've learned a lot in these last 9 months, more than I could have ever hoped. I seriously love being a missionary! Nothing else in the world has brought me more joy than serving others! I gotta go but here is a little update!
We got transfer news last week and I'm staying here in Santa Clara with Sister Higgins again!! Ahhh! We are so excited! We LOVE this ward and this area!
Jeff was baptized last Saturday!! We have seen so many miracles working with him this last transfer! 32 years of smoking put down, Jeff's sister is now taking the lessons in Roseburg because of him, we are now teaching Jeff's mother in law, Kalena, and his next door neighbor, Kenneth! A domino effect is happening right before our eyes! Jeff set his heart and mind on Jesus Christ and let God prevail. At times I wasn't sure he'd be able to do it. My faith and testimony have grown as I have watched the Lord provide strength to Jeff.
Kalena, Jeff's mother in law, is so excited to be taking the lessons! She has never been religious and wants to take baby steps. She is already doing so good and progressing so well! She made us Nigerian meat pies and Scandinavian meat pies to celebrate ahha!
This last week I found out that Phyllis, the women I taught in Coos Bay who was recently baptized, is helping her family in Utah recieve the gospel! Her sweet great granddaughter is taking the lessons and wants to be baptized!
Little thought:)
"…No one of us is less treasured or cherished of God than another. I testify that He loves each of us—insecurities, anxieties, self-image, and all. He doesn’t measure our talents or our looks; He doesn’t measure our professions or our possessions. He cheers on every runner, calling out that the race is against sin, not against each other…" - Jeffrey R. Holland
Sometimes it's hard to love ourselves. Sometimes it's hard to love others! But when we realize that we are in a race against sin, not each other, not even ourselves(!) we are able to come to know of our divine purpose and potential as Gods children. There will be stumbling blocks, we will have doubts, there will be hard days, bad days and days when we don't feel like we can move on. But because of Jesus Christ WE CAN! Remember that he is cheering on EVERY runner…and that means you:) No matter what you are going through, what insecurities, anxieties, or troubles you have, there is nothing that is greater than Jesus Christ and the power of his love!
I love and miss you all dearly! I hope all is going good:) always feel free to reach out.
