WEEK 33! "Eternity A New Musical"
What a week, what a week! There were ups, downs and many miracles! I am loving the work, the good days and the hard days! I say hard days instead of bad days because I can genuinely say there are no bad days on the Lord's mission! Each day I learn and grow and that makes it a great day!
Sister Higgins and I have been praying hard to see miracles lately and the Lord is definitely answering our prayers! This week on the way home from a lesson we decided we needed to stop and get gas. We were going to go before but kept pushing it off. We waited at the pump for 5 minutes and no one came to fill our car (I'm still not used to letting someone else pump my gas for me...). Finally a man came out only after we were pulling away. We then decided to go to another gas station across the street. A man named John pumped our gas. We made small talk and he opened up to us. He told us he wasn't okay. He said he can't figure out what's wrong with him and why he feels suicidal. He and his wife just divorced and their son passed away last year and he feels like there is nothing left. We got his number and shared a message of hope with him. So many events took place for this miracle to occur! God truly knows each of us. He knows what we are going through and sends others to help us. Many times this is after a trial of our faith. There are pains, losses and heart aches. But the good news is that we are so loved by our Heavenly Father who never leaves us comfortless!
Each Wednesday we get to go over to an adorable old ladies house, sister Thede, and sing with her! She was a choir director her entire life and now has dementia and only remembers that. We sing hymns with her, play the bongos, and laugh so hard! In the middle of rocking out to "Book Of Mormon Stories" she thought she saw a cat run across the living room! There was definitely no cat! She was laughing so hard that her dentures fell out! We couldn't contain ourselves! It is so tender to sing with her and feel the spirit that comes from music!
Update on our sweet friend Vinny! He is progressing well and is cutting down on cigarettes! We had planned to teach him about tithing but changed our lesson to focus on the atonement of Jesus Christ! He is frustrated that he can't seem to quit. It was so amazing to see him make a personal connection with Christ's atonement. I feel like I have taken my knowledge of the gospel for granite growing up. But seeing Vinny have hope in his eyes as we applied Christ's atonement to him made me realize how real and amazing the gospel is.
Another miracle! We have been messaging a lady for months on one of our stake Facebook pages. She has left us on read but we have tried to be persistent with her! Out of the blue she gave us her address and asked us to come see her! Surprisingly she was in our area! We taught her about the Book of Mormon and she loved it! She wants to meet every week and start taking the lessons! Wahoo!!!
One of the best parts of my week was going to a musical! A BYU student in our stake has been working on it for 3 years and we were the first audience to see it! I am not much of a play person but this was seriously beautiful!! It was comparing struggles that pioneers had and struggles that we have now in this generation! It was an amazing experience and the spirit was so strong!
I love this work and I am so grateful to be in the Lord's service! I love yall and I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
