WEEK 31 Santa Is Going To Reform The "Mormon" Church?
Hello beautiful friends and family!!! What a week it's been! A week full of 90 degree weather and not a single drop of rain!
We received our transfer news last night! I will be staying as a social media leader but moving to Santa Clara to be a sister training leader! I'm sad to leave Springfield but so excited for Santa Clara! I've heard the ward is absolutely amazing! This news was honestly the most surprising news I've had! There are one other set of FHAM sisters, sister Higgins and Mitchell, besides sister Murdoch and I. We are all just switching around! I'll be with Sister Higgins and Sister Murdoch and Mitchell will be together! Us four are definitely becoming so close after serving together the last couple transfers! Good news is that I'll still be around Murry in the office 6/7 days of the week.
I love Oregon but my goodness it just gets weirder and weirder the longer I am here! It all started with a man named John. The other FHAM sisters met him at Walmart. He lives in our area so they decided to do a pass off lesson. They said that he was interested in Family History so we invited our family history consultant to come with us to his lesson! When we got to his apartment, it was not what I was expecting! He was this cute old guy who looked liked Santa Clause. His house looked like a mini museum or something like that. So pretty much if you can picture Santa Clause with National Treasure vibes, then you probably have a pretty good idea about this guy. Anyways, we didn't end up doing family history at all! Instead we learned that his brother-in-law's great-something uncle was the governor of Michigan and he was also somehow distantly related to this western trailblazer, so obviously he is meant to be the next Prophet of the Mormon church. Right? At least that's what he told us? Apparently Jesus came too him looking like a golden Christmas tree and called him to reform the church. We tried our best to get out of there. When we finally got out he chased us down the stairs and asked for a picture. Honestly you just had to be there! I just feel bad for our poor family history consultant!
We took one last trip to Corvallis to film! It was by far the funnest trip we have had! We videoed a women with blue hair who calls herself "Grandma Mermaid". She played the harp for us! It was absolutely beautiful and so peaceful! We spent a couple of hours getting footage at the Black's home too! They are by far the cutest family I have met in Oregon! They live on a beautiful green hill in a charming farm house with pigs, chicken, bees and dogs and 6 kids! We had so much fun filming the animals and their sweet testimonies of God's love for them. I've never wanted to long term live in Oregon until this week...I kinda of am in love with Corvallis. It is a dream.
You think after 8 months I'd get use to the one ways....this last week I found myself driving down the street thinking "hmm the back of the stop lights look weird, I wonder why everyone else has to stop and I don't." Little did I know I was on a one way without a care in the world. All of the cars in the intersection quickly let me know with their horns...not my brightest moment but we seriously couldn't stop laughing after!
I spoke in church yesterday! I got the call late Saturday night that a ward member was sick and couldn't speak. If you know me you know speaking in sacrament kinda terrifies me! But I was seriously so excited to speak! I don't think I've ever replied with such excitement before. Sister Murdoch was absolutely surprised with how excited I was. There was only about 30 minutes of preparation due to our night of appointments and early morning meetings. Usually this would have stressed me out but the Lord is giving me exactly what I need to grow! I don't want to say I love speaking in sacrament but YOU GUYS I definitely love speaking in sacrament now...who even am I?!
I am so grateful for the opportunities and experiences I have each and everyday. There are good days and hard days but I ultimately feel so blessed that I have the knowledge of the gospel. Knowing that I have the gospel of Jesus Christ as the center of my life gives me comfort that I know I can not find anywhere else.
"You have the Savior of the world on your side, if you seek His help and follow his directions, how can you fail?" - Gary E. Stevenson
I have the most deep and sincere love for each of you and for my Savior! I know Jesus Christ love is deeper than we can begin to imagine. I know that He loves you and He knows your challenges. You truly will not fail with Him on your side.
Have an amazing week! With all my love and prayers
