WEEK 29 Grandpa Vogel & Fishies
Hello beautiful people! How is everyone doing? How's life going? Can you believe it's summer time already? Goodness gracious! I hope everyone is enjoying themselves!! We had a great week here in Springfield Oregon, full of rain but I guess that's how we like it here?!
This week, like every other week, went by in a blink of an eye! We had one thing after another to keep time going and of course to keep us on our toes!
To start off the week we had some filming appointments set up! On our way to both of the appointments they both cancelled which is unusual. Sister Murdoch and I were a little bummed but quickly readjusted our schedule! We decided to first go inactive door knocking. We found ourselves looking at a list of names and felt guided to a man named Kevin. As we walked up to his door we heard a lot of arguing and yelling. We weren't sure if we should knock but decided we had been lead there for a reason. We knocked, Kevin answered the door, and we saw a lot of commotion and arguing going on between the family. Kevin seemed a bit annoyed at first but then stepped out on the porch to talk to us. We began talking to him and he quickly began to open up to us about all the trials he is going through and how he just wants to end it because there is no way he can do it anymore. It broke my heart to see all the turmoil he was going through but amazed me to know that the Lord needed us to be there at that moment with Kevin! We prayed with Kevin and read from the Book of Mormon there on his porch. Kevin's entire countenance changed in a matter of 10 minutes because the spirit of the Lord was brought into his life. He was able to feel the peace and comfort that comes from the gospel. If our filming appointments hadn't cancelled we may not have met Kevin. Kevin also works the graveyard shift and the time that we showed up just so happens to be the only time he is home and awake. The Lord's plan will always be better than ours and this is because He truly is a God of miracles.
Zone Conference! I absolutely love zone conference! There is nothing quite like being around 80 other missionaries and being uplifted by them and their spirits. We had a focus on the importance of teaching doctorine! Understanding the why before the what is so important! And of course seeing my bestie girl, Sister Bell, made my week!
Pickleball! We played pickleball with a group of cute oldies in the ward! They are pretty dang good! I went and practiced today so that I can be better next time I play with "Baller Bobbi". That women is GOOD!
We were able to travel to the COAST again! It was so beautiful and such a fun adventure! We stayed with some of our favorite sisters in Corvallis, spent time around OSU, filmed on the coast and met with our friend! Steve, the man we met with last time who I met over Facebook, invited us for lunch again! We were able to teach him the Plan of Salvation! It amazes me each time we teach God's plan how it automatically brings hope and peace into the individuals life. I can truly see the Lord's hand in preparing Steve to hear about the gospel. The light of Christ shines through Him and the gospel is so familiar to him. He is amazing and truly has a burning desire to know more. Steve has become a really great friend of mine! I actually call him grandpa Vogel now. Each time we are in Newport we do something exciting with him! This time we ate at Georgies and then went to the aquarium!
I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There is no greater peace than the peace that comes from living His gospel. I hope that each of you can feel the peace and joy that comes from having membership in His church. It truly is a blessing! I hope that each of you have a great week! Please never hesitate to reach out if you need a friend to talk to, prayers or help! I love you all so much! With all my love and prayers,
