WEEK 21 "FHAMily"
Hello hello beautiful people!
Boy my mission has flipped on it's head! FHAM zone is a whole 'nother' cow!
Last Monday I spent all of P day saying goodbye to my Coos family. Those were by far some of the hardest goodbyes I've ever had to say. It felt like saying goodbye to my family at the MTC all over again but this time I didn't know when I'd see them again. Saying goodbye to Phyllis especially broke my heart. She told me me call her gg and at the point i was already in tears! I'm still trying to process the move and transition. It's taken a lot of relying on the Lord. Before coming on my mission I thought I was one for change, my mission has proved me wrong!
Anyways let's jump into FHAM! I do have an area in Springfield, but most days we only have 1-3 hours to do area work. The reason for that is because 10-5 we are working in the office everyday. We monitor stake Facebook pages, edit videos, run ads on our stake pages, make ads, coordinating filming and social media splits, and pretty much all of the other random stuff that missionaries serving in the field can't do. We call the missionaries in the FHAM zone our "FHAMily". We all work pretty close together and support each other which I love! This is not what I intended to do on my mission but it's not about what I intended it's about what the Lord intends for me to do. A lot of what I'm being asked to do is hard, there's a lot of pressure but I asked the Lord to help me grow last transfer and all I can say is be careful what you ask for;) Many days it feels like I have a full time office job and then run home to do more "work" things. When I'm out of the office we do social media splits, filming, new missionary social media trainings, Instagram trainings for new leadership, and we have lots and lots of meetings. I counted it the other day and we have at least 10-12 every week!
When it comes to actually being here, I LOVE IT!! I still have no clue what is going on, but I'm getting there! My favorite part is that I get the chance to meet so many missionaries and learn so much from all of them!! I also really enjoy talking with stake presidents and my mission president. There is a special spirit that comes from staying in close contact with them. And most importantly my relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ is the strongest it has ever been. I truly love him so much! There are days when I am just in awe of Him and His sacrifice for each of us.
The hardest part of being here is that even though you do so much, sometimes you don't really feel like a real missionary. Teaching the gospel is and gaining relationships with people is my favorite part about missionary work, and we rarely get the opportunity to teach. Its especially hard when you're coming from Coos Bay, the actual land of the Elect, it's a pretty big shift. We are trying hard to find people to teach, but when you have so little time, it's hard to find people. This has really been stretching me and my faith, but I know that everything happens for a reason, and I need to continue to strive to work hard and submit to God's will.
Thats what I have learned most from being here is how to be willing and have a good additude about it! There are so many things I am asked to do that don't make sense or I really don't want to do, but everytime I go through with it, I see miracles happen, and having a good additude just makes life so much more pleasant! Like for real!! Who would have thought! EVERYDAY IS A GREAT DAY!
The biggest things I've learned this last week in FHAM is: 1. The Lord has given me this calling to help me grow 2. I am tilling the soil for other missionaries to plant seeds. I may not be teaching and planting seeds like I'd want but I am doing a work that the Lord needs me to do.
A few more highlights for the week:
•I am back with Murry! This is my 3rd transfer out of 4 with her! I guess you could say we are a dynamic duo
•I moved into an apartment known as "The Meth Lab". I get a headache everyday when I walk in the door because of the smell of weed!
•Sister Murdoch and I sang, "The Miracle" at our ward Easter brunch and wore matching blue colored dresses
•Sister Ward and I had a cake fight to end our time together. She may or may not have licked frosting off my face
•A guy with a knife ran into the middle of the road almost hit our car and then a couple of cops circled him and arrested him...definitely a scary experience!
•We had a leadership meeting with the Western American Social Media Missionaires which was so cool! I saw Abby Charlton (a childhood friend) on there!
"Faith is believing that although we do not understand all things, He does. Faith is knowing that although our power is limited, His is not. Faith in Jesus Christ consists of complete reliance on Him."
-Dennis E. Simmons
I love each and everyone of you and I know your Heavenly Father does too. Draw upon His strength, His love, and His grace and you will see Him direct your life. Have a wonderful day and choose to see the good even in the bad. Love yall
