WEEK 16 Family History...Isn't Just For Old People!
Hello beautiful people! WOW! Where to start... I feel so blessed to be a missionary doing the Lord's work! Being an instrument in His hands brings me joy beyond comprehension!
I discovered a new LOVE for family history! My entire week was centered on it! I have been able to find a little over 1,000 names to take to the temple in just 6 days. It has been amazing to do the Lord's work on both sides of the veil this week. While I have been ecstatic about family history this week I have been able to find many ways to implement it into my missionary work. We have done Zoom calls and taught people about family history, brought it up while messaging people on facebook, and have been able to teach our recent convert friends about it! We are taking Brenda and Sharon (my cute friends who were just baptized in December) to the Medford temple this upcoming Saturday! This week we have been able to help them connect to their family trees. I had a really tender experience with my sweet Sharon. She has had the hardest time connecting to her tree due to being out of touch with her family members. The only information we had to work with was her mom and dad's names. After many days and many many phone calls we were able to get enough information! It was a miracle! We connected her to her mother and father. As I saw her mom's name come up and told her that her mom's Ordinances could be done we both started crying. The spirit in the room was powerful. Sharon shared a lot of special stories about her mom and their relationship. I know this means the world to Sharon and I can't even imagine how her mom feels. Sharon can't be baptized due to her bad back and arm so she asked me if I would be baptized for her mom. She wants to be the witness at the temple as I was at her baptism. I feel so blessed to be able to participate in such a sacred experience. We then added her son, David, who passed away from spina bifida at a young age. Sharon had the most powerful experience as she found these two names. We talked a lot about her family and the important work that is done in the temple that allows her to be with them again someday. This experience strengthened my testimony of the importance of gathering Israel on both sides of the veil. Family history isn't just for old people and no your family history isn't done;) I would love to teach anyone who wants to learn:) this week I wanna invite each of you to prepare a name to take to the temple. I know that you'll feel strength from angles on the other side of the veil as you strive to gather Israel!
MIRACLES:
-Paul was able to quit smoking and drinking coffee cold turkey! He's so excited to be baptized that he now drinks apple juice instead;)
-On our way to serve breakfast to serve the homeless I took a wrong turn and as I pulled into a parking lot to turn around we saw a homeless man shaking on the ground. We felt prompted to take him food on our way home. I know we didn't take a wrong turn on accident. God's tender mercies are real and POWERFUL!
-Phyllis was able to meet with us!! Her journey to quit smoking is slow coming but progress is progress!
YOU ARE REMARKABLE!
This week I have been thinking about the word remarkable! What does it mean to you? When I think of the word remarkable I think of the incredible work here on earth that each one of us has to do. We each have a remarkable and unique work to do that is specific to us. Isnt that interesting? God knew that only YOU could accomplish what he sent you here to do. I know that God loves each of His children and He has given us spiritual gifts to accomplish His work. You are remarkable and you have a remarkable work to do. Let that sink in. Use your spiritual gifts to gather Israel! You will grow closer to your Savior Jesus Christ and come to know and see His divine plan for you.
I am so grateful for this gospel and for each one of you! You all have helped to strengthen me and my testimony. I love yall so very much! I hope everyone is doing well back at home!
Remember...when you can't see His hand look for His fingerprints.
