WEEK 14 Prayers Go Up, Blessings Come Down

Hey, hey friends!! How is everyone doing? Hopefully y'all are doing fantastic! OH MY WORD!...this week has been an emotional rollercoaster but in the best way possible! I can already tell this email is gonna be lengthy so either buckle up and put those reading glasses on or just check out some pictures at the bottom;)! We got transfer news and I am staying in Coos...are you shocked? Wanna be even more shocked...my new comp is President Dallin. H Oaks granddaughter...NOT JOKING. Kinda exciting! Anyways I have felt it deep in my bones the last few days that I was staying here and I couldn't be happier! I truly love it here. It's safe to say I'm attached to the town, the coast, but most of all the people here in Coos. Eventually when I leave the goodbyes will be tough. But until then I'm gonna keep calling Coos home!

On Tuesday we were FINALLY able to visit Phyllis again after two whole weeks! Her chemo and radiation has been really hard on her and has left her feeling very sick and tired. The first time we met Phyllis she seemed hopeless and lost. When we went and visited her this week, for the first time her physical presence had literally changed!! She seemed to be radiating light and happiness! I truly can say I have seen how the gospel of Jesus Christ has brought light into her life! We have been working with her trying to get her off of cigarettes and coffee so she can be baptized. She has been smoking since age 15 and drinking coffee ever since she can remember. It has been a process but we have seen that the power of prayer is real! Just a few weeks ago she was smoking 20 cigarettes a day. She has been able to cut it down to 5 in just 2 weeks and coffee is no longer a problem! Phyllis originally set her baptismal date for the end of February and due to her still smoking we have to push it back. When we told her this she began sobbing uncontrollably and was heart broken. At that moment my heart was a little heavy, not because she had to wait but because it showed how badly she truly wants to be baptized. We set another goal and are praying with everything in us that she will continue resisting temptation! Seeing where she is now compared to where she started is amazing. Being a part of her process of growing and finding Christ has been one of the biggest testimony builders I have ever experienced. One thing Phyllis has taught me is that there is most definitely hope in Christ.

We were lucky enough to put two friends on date this week right before the end of the transfer! The spirit is working magic here in Coos and I am so grateful to be a part of it. Marcia is the sweetest, most tender old lady! We were sitting in Abby's Pizza teaching her all about temples and families. She had many questions and we realized she was ready to commit to baptism. She is stocked to be baptized! Paul Mead is also entering the waters of baptism! Paul is an absolute ELECT legend! Talk about God preparing people to hear the gospel...sheesh! Paul had been reading the Book of Mormon, Come Follow Me, and listening to general conference talks all before meeting with us! Paul is the strongest non member, member I have ever met...dare I say stronger than some of the actual members. I am so excited for these sweet friends. My heart is beyond full of love and happiness seeing the gospel truly CHANGE LIVES!

I graduated from new missionary training...hallelujah! No longer a greeny but I'll probably always have the greeny fire;) if you look closely at my graduations certification (picture below) it says, "she only likes tuna from Costco, will kill you with 8lb. weights & protein powder, and don't let her fool you with that Utah accent..." It's a running joke in my zone that I have a 'strong' Utah accent?...and it's obvious I miss my protein powder and weights.
SPIRITUAL

I was listening to a conference talk this week and something it said really stood out to me. It said, "God does answer our prayers about the truthfulness of the gospel, but He answers them when we have “a sincere heart” and “real intent.” He does not answer just to respond to our curiosity." How often do we demand answers from God or just throw a question up and hope we get an answer? Many times in our lives we have questions about the gospel or about life in general. I'll be honest a lot of times for me it's simply out of curiosity instead of a sincere desire to know the truth. When I read this I decided I needed to be more prayerful and sincere with the questions I ask the Lord. I truly believe that prayers go up and blessings come down but only after we are sincerely seeking. I hope all of you know how much your Heavenly Father loves you. He wants to answer your prayers and he will as your desires are heartfelt and your faith is in action.

I love each and everyone of you so very much. Continue doing all that you can to put Jesus Christ at the center of your life and I can promise you, you will become the most happy version of yourself.
