WEEK 12! Fight Night EVERY Night!
HELLO CUTE FRIENDS AND FAMILY!
I swear I blinked and it's P day again! The Lord really speeds time up when you're busy doing His work. This week was busy, busy BUSY but so full of exciting changes and new opportunities!
We started teaching a part member couple this week names the Meads. The wife Judy was baptized at age 8 as a member but fell away shortly after. Paul, her husband, grew up Lutheran. After living in Coos Bay for a couple years they decided they needed God in their lives again. They started coming to church with Judy's sister in law in our ward! We have been wanting to teach them for a couple weeks now and have been building a good relationship with them at church. They didn't seem too interested in meeting with us. We kept praying for an opportunity to teach them! Randomly we got a text from Judy's sister in law saying they wanted to meet with the missionaries! We were beyond happy receiving this message! All the praying we had been doing paid off! Everything is in God's timing!!! At this point Paul and Judy have been coming to church for 2 months, have already been reading the Book of Mormon and studying Come Follow Me! They are GOLDEN! I can't wait to continue meeting with them!
Every week I see God's fingerprints in my life. He is a God of miracles and I have truly come to see them, big and small! This week we were in a trailer park going to teach Phyllis. For some reason on the way there I felt very uneasy. As we came around the corner to park I saw a white truck, trashed and very dirty, in front of her RV. I parked a little past her RV and felt very strongly that we shouldn't get out of the car yet. We waited about 2 minutes and a big burley, kinda scary guy was at my window. I rolled the window down and he whispered into the car saying "you need to leave, get out of here right now. This guy is bad news and is throwing a fit." We left and I was immediately overcome with peace. It was an interesting experience but I knew at that moment that God truly does watch over his children. The spirit, if we listen to it, will never lead us astray.
When I first got called to Oregon I was so excited! I thought it would be somewhat normal because it's in the United States! It may be two states away but it really does feel like I'm in a third world country in Coos Bay. There is a lot of poverty, drugs, and homeless people. I didn't think I needed to be humbled but boy was I wrong. I have seen many circumstances of living that humble me to tears. I have realized how blessed I truly am. My heart is heavy for the people here. They don't have it easy yet they are so grateful for every. little. thing. A roof over their head and food in their stomachs is a huge blessing for them and we take it for granted everyday. Many people here are grateful to be where they are. I want everyone reading this to know how blessed you truly are. Some days may be crappy but there are ALWAYS things to be grateful for. This week each night before you go to bed I challenge each of you to WRITE down (don't just think) three things you were grateful for that day. Next week I wanna hear a few of the things you guys were grateful for! I promise you that it will fill your heart with joy and help you see the beauty in this life that we get to live!
