WEEK 9&10!!! METH EPIDEMIC...

HELLO TO ALL OF MY FAVORITE PEOPLE!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY! It just gets better and better! The weeks and days are going by faster and faster. Mission time really is the most messed up thing!

I didn't send an email last week due to adventuring and exploring the coast most of the day! I gotta catch yall up but I will try and keep it shortish;). Before my mission, most of you know I came to Oregon with my family. While being here I fell in love with a seafood place called "Mo's". I didn't think there was one in my mission so for the last 6 weeks I haven't thought much about it. I found out there was one in Florence and I was OVER THE MOON! We drove about 2 hours to get clam chowder and on the way we explored the coast! Mo's has the BEST clam chowder and almost all their locations overlook the ocean. To say Mo's made my day is an understatement. We went to a lighthouse called "Heceta Head". It was seriously so beautiful. I LOVE the coast, I LOVE Oregon, and I LOVE my mission.

We had exchanges this week! I was with an awesome sister named sister GRACE Johnson! We had so much fun together! We are seriously the same person and not just because of our names. We made friends with a local owner of an ice cream shop called "Scoops"! While on exchanges we were able to go to YSA! We played volleyball for a couple hours. YOU GUYS...it was so much fun! I never realized how how I love volleyball!

Me and my comp decided to celebrate the elders birthdays! We decorated for them and made them wear birthday princess sashes and crowns all day. Us sisters got a kick out of it and I think they enjoyed it more than they led on!

We had a really great week with teaching! We were able to teach a lot of our friends important principles that are helping them become closer to Christ! We have a friend named Phyllis who is an old lady with cancer. She lives in a trailer and is a heavy smoker. My clothes usually smell like smoke for a couple days after but she is progressing so well! I LOVE Phyllis. She will be one of the hardest people to say goodbye to when I leave Coos Bay. Due to all of her health conditions she usually can't come to church and she also doesn't have a car. We have been praying for a miracle so she could come! She told us she was feeling well and we called as many people as we could trying to find a ride for her! A lady in our ward offered to give her a ride! I was able to sit by her in church and I felt the spirit so strong! Heavenly Father knew Phyllis needed to be ar church! We see so much potential with her! She is so receptive of what we teach and LOVES the Plan of Salvation. We also have a friend named Corina. She is a smoker as well. We have been teaching her for a while. She didn't want the missionary discussions at first which was really hard. We knew we were going to have to drop her soon if she wouldn't accept our teachings. We have been praying and praying for a miracle! We asked her one last time and she finally agreed to start taking the discussions! Our lesson with her was so powerful. We had planned to go over the Restoration with her but felt prompted to change our lesson. On the fly we taught her The Gospel of Jesus Christ! She has since messaged us telling us how much she loved the lesson and how she really needed to hear it! By being able to rely on a spiritual prompting to change the lesson it blessed her life. I know she needed to hear what we taught her. Please pray for our friends Phyllis and Corina!

We hiked to a waterfall today! We got soaked and it was insanely muddy but SO BEAUTIFUL! I love the scenery in Utah but Oregon is on another level....

On a side note I bought pepper spray and a tazer this week! I'm not sure I'm supposed to have them but it gives me peace of mind! It's a little crazy here in Coos Bay. Fun fact the meth epidemic started here and most people you meet either smoke, use heroine, or don't have teeth. In a lot of cases it's all 3. It makes me really sad but it makes me really grateful for how I have grown up. There are a lot of homeless people outside...some who have tried to get in our car and some who yell at us (hence the pepper spray and tazer). I love it here regardless of the craziness I am surrounded by!

    SPIRITUAL:
I have really been pondering this week about "what does Heavenly Father want me to become?". Heavenly Father has given us many tools to become something. There are many things he wants us to become...a better friend, mom, dad, sibling and maybe even a better disciple. Ultimately, he wants us to become like him and I don't know about you guys but to me that is a pretty tall order! I've learned though, that it's okay. It's like training to become stronger or a better runner. We can't always be training at 100%. Somedays you can only do 70% or maybe even 50%. We aren't meant to be at that 100% all the time or right away. We are going to make mistakes in life and what matters most is that we are consistently trying our best. By doing that it becomes easier and easier to be better. Even on the days where it's hard to train and give it any kind of effort at the end of the day you never will say "dang it I wish I didn't train today". You may say I wish I tried a little harder but ultimately you kept with your consistency. This goes the same way either the gospel. You will never say "dang it I read my Scriptures today, I wish I didn't do that" or "dang it I prayed today". You will always be happy with what you did do. I know that as you try hard to understand and ponder what Heavenly Father wants you to become you will see Him help you. Even if it's not always 100% effort, the lord sees your effort. He knows you are trying and He loves you very much. That 50% is good enough for Him. THE LORD LOVES YOUR EFFORT!!! NEVER forget that. This week I invite you all to ponder "what does Heavenly Father want me to become?". I Promise you the Lord will reveal to you what YOU can become!

I LOVE YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH! KEEP ON KEEPING ON! I miss you all and I hope your week is full of love and happiness! I love to hear from you guys so send me a little message about how your life is going:)
