Week 4! ONE MONTH DOWN WHAT?!

Hello beautiful people!

I hit my ONE MONTH as a missionary this week! It seems absolutely crazy. The days go by so slow but the weeks fly bye! Time is a crazy concept.

CHRISTMAS is in 13 DAYS! It still hasn't set in that it's almost Christmas! I'm used to the white snowy Christmas in Utah but this year I'm getting the rain! This week we were able to participate in quite a few Christmas activities which helped it to feel like the holidays! We went to the young women's Christmas party and made cookies with them! My companion and I decided to do a little finding activity this week. In my mission we aren't allowed to tract (go door to door finding people to teach). We use Facebook to find people and our own creative ideas. We decided to do a hot chocolate stand at a park! We gave away hot chocolate and were able to make some cool connections with people. Most of the people couldn't believe it was free...many of them were shocked and tried to pull out their wallets to pay us. Not only was it awesome to find people and connect with them but also so heart warming to be out in the community doing service. Another cool service we got to do this week was make baby blankets. A few ladies in my ward have a tradition to make blankets every Christmas and donate them. We were able to go and share a Christmas message and make a few blankets! Service reminds me what Christmas is really about. It's about serving, loving and invited as Jesus Christ would. I love this Holiday season!

My ward put on a pretty awesome Christmas party. We made cookies and ornaments with the kids and were able to be in the skit. Our skit wasnt your typical Christs Birth skit. It was the "Nauvoo Mansion House". It ended up being such a great skit! I got recruited to sing in the young adult choir for the skit. There ended up being only 6 of us singing infront of the ENTIRE WARD. This may not seem bad to some of you but if any of you have heard the Parry's sing you know it's not the most angelic thing...especially on the high notes of "O Holy Night". Anyways it was a good time! Missionary work gets me out of my comfort zone and I couldn't be happier about it. God KNOWS what I need!

I am so blessed to have some great members in my ward! Every Tuesday we have what we call "Dinner at the Dennings". We go for dinner and a message. They are an awesome convert family! They moved to Oregon 2 years ago away from all their family. They decided the missionaries were going to be their family. They have truly loved and adopted every missionary that comes through the ward. At their home I feel the most at home I've felt since I left home.

While studying this week I really tried to focus on reading the Book Of Mormon. To be honest I've always had a hard time understanding the BOM. I've been reading and praying everyday to understand it more and come to know that the words which are written are true. I had a mini miracle happen this week! I was struggling to understand a few chapters so I got on my knees and prayed. As I began reading again I was able to visualize what I was reading! It was SO amazing to me! It was like there was a movie of the Book Of Mormon playing in my head. A few months ago I could barely understand what was going on nor did I have a huge desire to read due to my lack of understanding. I didn't truly have a conversion to the Book Of Mormon yet. As I have prayerfully studied the Book Of Mormon I have seen blessings and miracles come from it! THE SCRIPTURES ARE SO POWERFUL! We have all heard the saying, "The gospels true and the book is blue" this week I tweeked it a little. "The book is blue and I KNOW it's true". My testimony of the Book Of Mormon has grown this week because of my desire. It may be hard to have a desire to read. Or maybe finding time to read is hard but I know that as we seek to know and understand the Scriptures that WE WILL come to know them and love them. God wants our effort. Sometimes the effort is having the desire and opening the book.
I challenge all of you to find time this week to become more deeply converted to the Book Of Mormon. Whether that's reading a chapter a day or even a verse a day and praying to know of its power. I love the hope and happiness that the Scriptures bring!
THE BOOK IS BLUE AND I KNOW ITS TRUE!

Have a lovely and safe week! Love ya'll!
